I'm not so sure about that Melisa. First of all, leadership is a different thing in church -- differing from "leaders" in government and private sectors. In these latter places, leadership can profit from some measures of passion (e.g., pride and anger) -- thereby offering energy and motivation that could benefit the entire organization. This is not so in Church leadership -- whoever wants to argue for any positive contribution of pride or anger in the Church is thinking of another institution, which is a very frequent in contemporary ecclesiology.

Secondly, there is a problem with that concept of "sincerity." There have been many leaders who have been sincere, and have been sincerely wrong.

Effective leadership comes in sincerity of a leader who lead. Whatever is it, church, government or private sector leaders.

Amen...not that we should ever abandon hierarchy and create a democratized church, but we should not abandon leadership just to the hierarchs.

We are a church full of potential but have have often abandoned ministry (leadership being a component) to the clergy.

"So, priests who stand close to the bishop, whether they are "kingmakers" or "policy-makers" or "movers and shakers," are responsible for diocesan conditions that facilitate theosis."

"We do not need a revival of bishops. We need a revival, even more, of the men around them."

Father, I could not agree with you more. I truly appreciate this reflection. If Consistories could be less like Sanhedrins, and more like assemblies of theosis the Church would be better off.

Thank you for this.
