« A Lutheran (still) prognostication | Main | He is not my enemy »

What made you think that Old Rome, after millenia of defecating on the Orthodox, would display a sincere interest in them? Where there's life, there's hope, but still.... Old Rome has an institutional memory.

The Pope is setting himself up to be the leader of Christianity and the sole significant Christian contact with the Muslims and everyone else. Old Rome's will to power is unending, and the only Orthodox leader who has anything near the Pope's confidence is the Patriarch of Moscow.

I look forward to hearing more about his trip, not because he's going to meet Muslims, but because of his meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch.

And, this liberal hippy has been impressed with several pieces of Pat Buchanan's writings lately, go figure.
